Hot Springs Baptist Church - March 2005

Our trip was a great success. Our entire team worked together seeing dental patients and fitting people for glasses. We worked at the churches in Cajamarca, and Matara, and also at a government clinic in La Huaracella(sp?). At Monte Sion we we able to see both children and adults. We have started to keep records of these patients so that once the medical clinic is built they will be treated as patients and not emergencies.
Larry had to leave due to the death of his sister. We were heart broken for him in his loss and greatly missed the time sharing with him. Nancy, however, carried on for him and as always had everything arranged for us. On Monday, Pastor Raul Chota came to visit with us and also to work with us on Tuesday in Matara. He is truly a wonderful man of God and is doing a very difficult work along the Amazon out of Yurimaguas. We have initiated plans for a 2 week trip there in 2006 to help him in his ministry. There will be a limited number allowed and we will probably have to pick the group due to health considerations, etc.
There is still room on the June trip and it will be a good time to be there. We also still have a few openings on the October trip.
Upon arriving back in Lima we met a youth group from FBC Muscle Shoals, Alabama with a very sick young lady, Erica O'Dell. I helped with some meds but she was losing fluids and could not stop. Approaching dehydration they took her to the American Clinic for treatment. I was able to contact her father today who told she had been released from the hospital and would return home on the flight tonight.
I was also able to meet Tommy and Angela Head who are missionaries in Puculpa, Peru. They work with Living Waters and know both Larry and Raul well. They had nothing but praise for both. Please be in prayer for Tommy in that he was in town for an MRI which revealed the need for Six. He returned to the states on our Flight.
Praise God for the changes within our group and for keeping Andy's mom until he could return home.
